If you are having difficulty with your research and would like some assistance we do have some volunteers you may be able to help.
This is mainly for distant or disabled members as local Members can pop into the Research Centre and ask for assistance from the Duty Volunteers.
No fee is charged, but we ask for a deposit of £20 against reasonable expenses. These may include postage, photocopying, fees for consulting
statutory registers, transport to research centres etc. The deposit of £20 must accompany a request for research before we can start, and this is
non-refundable once research has commenced. We are unable undertake searches for whole family trees or for living relatives, and we reserve the
right to refuse lengthy or complicated research. Only one request per member is accepted at a time and enquirers must await a reply before sending
a new query. Research assistance is subject to the availability of volunteers.
We can also help with census information throughout Scotland for the years from 1841 through to 1901 with emphases on our own indexes and resources
covering the Glasgow and West of Scotland area including Argyll, Ayrshire, Dunbartonshire, Glasgow and Lanarkshire.
We are also able to Transcribe Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates at the local Scotland's People centre at the Mitchell Library. This can be
helpful for the more recent certificates which have not yet been released on line.
