Through Ancestry I am in contact with a descendant of the Clark Family of Lanarkshire in the late 19th century. My paternal grandmother whose name may be Rose White or Rose Ellen White came to live with John Clark and Mary Jane White and is on the 1891 census as their boarder age 9. My contact is a descendant of this John Clarks sister so has no information on my Rose White. I did have help from the NW Kent FHS and have found a birth record of sort for her but no name yet confirmed. Roses mother was Lydia Helen White no father listed but he was Jewish as Ancestry DNA testing shows I am 13 and my brother is 20 European Jew. Roses grandparents were James White and Jane Scott. Jane Scott was born in Scotland - likely Lanarkshire. Any help is greatly appreciated. My quest for my paternal grandmother has been a very long journey with a lot more to go. Thank you. I have been researching my family for ten years. The most interesting name I have is Liverance which is supposed to come from an office in the kings court. In my research I have also found that some of the Liverance family were friends to Covenanters and two if them may actually have been Covenanters.

All of my family folklore history points our origins to the Scott family from Greenock and I believe that my missing link is through James Scott 1720 son of John who established the ship-building empire at Greenock. His brother William and his descendants continued in the business while my James moved his interest sideways in to other fields. My proven link is a William Scott bc1737 from Portsea Hampshire with strong sea-faring background and I believe that this fellow is descended from or was the son of James 1720. I would love to hear from anyone who has done research on James 1720? Many thanks.

The land documents of my 3xgreat grandfather George Moore indicate he was granted land as a retired soldier bugler of the 71st Regiment of Foot. I cannot locate his military papers. I believe he was active during the Napoleonic Wars. Ive been told that once a soldier accepted land his military records were destroyed. An Ontario record indicates he came to Canada 1833ish with a wife and 6 children. His son Charles was born 1834 at Medonte Simcoe County Ontario. I have been able to follow the lives of Charles and his wife Eliza Deacon as they moved from Ontario to homestead land in Alberta but finding the Scottish roots of George and Mary is proving to be very difficult. I think George was born in the late 1790s. If so he would have been very young when enlisting. A possible marriage doc found on Scotlands People shows a George Moore marrying Mary ? in Glasgow. I would love suggestions please re: where to search. Thank you

John and Robert are on the 1851 census at 164 Garscube Rd Glasgow and Thomas died at the same address in 1868. Both John and Robert ended up in NZ. I cant seem to find a death record for Mary RAE have been looking on ScotlandsPeople and on FamilySearch. I dont know if there are any cemetery lookups that can be done. They were Presbyterian I think definitely not Catholic. By the way the website I listed is not mine as such but I do have my data up there and its free to register and view non-living. Thanks.
